Teen dead, man injured in explosion at illegal firecracker unit in Bengal's East Medinipur

By Suryagni Roy: A 16-year-old boy died and a 50-year-old man sustained grave injuries after an explosion at an illegal firecracker unit at Panskura in West Bengals East Medinipur district.
 

Police said an explosion was reported at the house of Srikanta Bhakta of Sadhupota village under the Panskura Police station. As per police sources, according to a preliminary investigation, it was an illegal firecracker unit in Panshkura.

The 16-year-old deceased has been identified as Pradip Samanta, while the injured 50-year-old man has been identified as Swarnalata Bhakta.
 

Police said Srikanta Bhakta had a license to run the unit till two years ago, but he was running the factory without renewing the license for firecracker manufacturing.
 

Police said the license to run the firecracker unit had expired two years ago.
