The Union government has slashed the base import prices of crude and refined palm oil and gold. India is the world's biggest importer of edible oils and the second-biggest consumer of gold.

Commercial LPG cylinder prices slashed | Check out latest rates
The prices of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders were slashed on Saturday with immediate effect by the oil marketing companies (OMCs). Prices of domestic cylinders will, however, continue to remain steady.
The rates were cut by Rs 25.50 in Delhi, Rs 36.50 in Kolkata, Rs 32.50 in Mumbai and Rs 35.50 in Chennai.
With the latest revision in prices, a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder will cost Rs 1,859 in Delhi, instead of Rs 1,885.
In Kolkata, a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder will cost Rs 1,959 instead of 1,995.50 and in Mumbai, one unit of a cylinder will cost Rs 1,811.50 instead of Rs 1,844.
Meanwhile, in Chennai, the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder will cost Rs 2,009.50 from today instead of Rs 2,045.
Earlier on September 1, oil marketing companies (OMCs) slashed the prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders for commercial use. The price of the 19 kg LPG cylinder for commercial use was reduced by Rs 91.50.
LPG rates vary from city to city and are reviewed every month. Any changes in prices are implemented on the first day of each month.
